HISTORY
Don Francisco Fonseca founded his brand in the 1890s.
A handsome man, who cared deeply for appearances, he passed his sartorial precision on to his cigars which he dressed in silky tissue paper – a tradition that continues to this day on all the Havanas that bear his name.
Fonseca’s delicate blend of filler and binder tobaccos from the Vuelta Abajo zone makes it the ideal cigar for the afternoon, or for people new to Havanas.
All UK sizes of Fonseca are tripa larga, ‘totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally handmade.
An unusual size similar to a Lonsdale, this is the largest vitola currently made by the brand. It offers a light, vegetal taste at the outset that goes on to develop some earthiness as it progresses.
TASTING NOTES
This mild cigar delivers a light-bodied smoke, opening with classic creamy cedar, light floral notes, and a distinctive toasted oatmeal. The long, balanced finish introduces subtle nutty sweetness, gentle earthiness, and a touch of vanilla bean.
This easy-going cigar pairs perfectly with a bourbon matured Single Malt Scotch Whisky, an aged White Port, or a smooth morning coffee.
