Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2

HISTORY

A Spanish businessman named Juan López Diaz founded his eponymous brand in the 1870’s.

Although little known around the world today, Juan López has always attracted a following amongst aficionados of Havanas, most notably for the Selección No.2 size.

The brand offers a consistent medium to full flavour based on a rich blend of filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone and both sizes are ‘tripa larga, totalmente a mano’ – long filler, totally handmade.

As Robustos rule these days, it is hardly surprising that the Selección No.2 is the star size in this brand. Plenty of spicy and chocolaty notes combine with a classic Cuban earthiness.

TASTING NOTES

Experience notes of intense cedar and roasted nuts, earthy spice, leather, and dark cocoa. With background notes of salinity, balanced by subtle notes of black cherry and baking spices.

Its savoury complexity and rich, spicy core make it an excellent pairing with High-Proof Bourbon or Rye Whiskey, a Dark, Aged Jamaican Rum, or a rich Medium-to-Dark Roast Coffee.
